house for sale ~~

my dad’s house in Tupper Lake, NY, has been on the market for just about a year now.  With the tough economic times, there has been little interest and few prospects.  The house is almost through the legalities of being in mine and my brother’s name once the probate/estate mess is finally done….(Ughhh…what a mess all that is, but that’s another blog)…!  Our Realtor has been showing the house the bit, but no substantial interest, and one ridiculous offer.

I’m pretty biased about loving this place, because it is where I spent my summer and winter breaks for most of my young life.  Summers on the lake ~ boating, swimming, fishing.  Christmas and winter breaks ~ skiing every day.  The Adirondack Mountains are so peaceful, serene, and somewhat isolated “from the rest of the world”…!  I wish I could keep the house in the family, but circumstances are too tough — for us — being a 2 days journey by car — and for Bob — just too tough in that he and katie shared so much with Nisey there — too much pain.

Anyway – here is the link to the Realtor’s website with info:

please feel free forward to anyone who might be looking for a great vacation home in the Upstate, NY (Adironack Mountains).

secret sister ~~

I attend a women’s bible study (giggles- girls in God, growing, laughing, eating, sharing).  Each semester, we draw names for our ‘Secret Sister’.   Then from time to time, we can surprise our sister with a gift.  We have a giggles table setup @ church where we can anonymously leave them.  Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to my ’sis’ this week ~ not sure if she reads my blog, or not.  But, you obviously know that I LOVE coffee.  Also loved the other gifts…!

Great day today ~ church, kids, Rock Group ~~

I have this little inspiration calendar I flip each day.

Today’s message was:

All you need to be  a world changer is love, because love changes everything it touches.

OK – I’m challenging you to change that verse and accept this:

All you need to be a world changer is Jesus, because Jesus changes everything He touches.

I can relate ~

Such a sad story unfolding about actress Natashia Richardson.  After suffering what seemed to be a mild head injury while skiing in Montreal, see passed away today from those injuries.   So sudden, no notice, no chance to say goodbye.  I thought about her husband, her mother and her 2 precious sons – age 11 and 13…!  I wonder if she had a relationship with Jesus Christ?  My heart aches for her family and friends, but especially her 2 sons.  One is the same age as Kyle. That breaks my heart.  I know if I die tomorrow ~~ where I’m going.  My biggest worry is for the ones that I leave behind.  How will they cope?  Grief is hard stuff for kids…!  Believe me — I know the reality of a teenage girl who is going thru grief.

This whole thing has stirred up so much emotion in me.  I loved Denise.  She was who she was.  She loved everyone unconditionally.  That trait is rare.  Think about it ~ do you love unconditionally?  I feel like I can actually relate to Liam Neeson — he got that call that something bad had happened.  Not knowing what – he sped to the hospital.  Whats next?  Is there any hope?  Coping, arguing with God, mad…scared…!  Brain dead…..Takes a while for that to sink in…! Tears, tears, tears…! What do we do?  Cope?  Come to Grips..!! Finally make “that” decision.  Anything good: Organ Donation.  Saving lives..!

I’ve been there and it sucks…!  My sweet sister-in-law died 9 months ago from a massive stroke at age 41.  I’m still pissed about it, and I hope she is Heaven.  I’m not sure what her relationship was with Jesus Christ.  That’s why it’s so important that we invest in everyone and share with everyone God’s word and let know about God’s grace..!

John 3:16.  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Anyone Care???

I have been blogging for a little over a year now.  I started this blog last year a week after my Dad died ~ I guess as therapy for me.  The 7 months prior to that, Lonnie and I cared for my Dad after he was paralyzed in an accidental fall eventually leading to his death.  Our lives changed in an instant and for 7 months we had a whole new set of priorities.  Then after this death, our lives changed again, adjusting to not being the caregivers anymore.

So where am I going with this post?  I don’t know…! I have not been blogging much lately, I guess just having “bloggers block”.  I sometimes check the stats on the visitors to this site, and there are not many.  Do I even have an audience?  I follow lots of blogs, and usually end up deleting one or 2 a week if they have not posted in a while.  So I guess that is what folks are doing with my blog.  I’m considering not to blog anymore.  But if this site is important to you, and you’d like to see me keep with it, will you let me know?  You can comment here or email me, either way is fine.

Proverbs 31 ~~

One of the assignments given to the women at the recent marriage retreat was to read Proverbs 31.  I have actually been reading verses 10-31 each day.  These passages give women the insight about being a Godly wife, mother, homemaker, neighbor, teacher and friend.  Lonnie is most definitely the spiritual leader in our family, and Proverbs 31 is teaching me about love and honor in a marriage by supporting and encouraging his leadership ~~ in our family, our church, our Rock Group and with all of the children that are part of our lives.

Here are verses 10-31 from the New Living Translation:

10 Who can find a virtuous and capable wife?
She is more precious than rubies.
11 Her husband can trust her,
and she will greatly enrich his life.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.

13 She finds wool and flax
      and busily spins it.
 14 She is like a merchant’s ship,
      bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household
and plan the day’s work for her servant girls.

 16 She goes to inspect a field and buys it;
with her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She is energetic and strong,
      a hard worker.
 18 She makes sure her dealings are profitable;
her lamp burns late into the night.

19 Her hands are busy spinning thread,
      her fingers twisting fiber.
20 She extends a helping hand to the poor
and opens her arms to the needy.
21 She has no fear of winter for her household,
      for everyone has warm clothes.

22 She makes her own bedspreads.
She dresses in fine linen and purple gowns.
23 Her husband is well known at the city gates,
where he sits with the other civic leaders.
24 She makes belted linen garments
and sashes to sell to the merchants.

25 She is clothed with strength and dignity,
and she laughs without fear of the future.
26 When she speaks, her words are wise,
and she gives instructions with kindness.
27 She carefully watches everything in her household
      and suffers nothing from laziness.

28 Her children stand and bless her.
      Her husband praises her:
29 “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world,
      but you surpass them all!”

 30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last;
but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.
31 Reward her for all she has done.
Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.

Just some random things after not posting in a while…..

  • We had a great time in Charleston this past weekend on RRCC’s married couples retreat.  Great sessions and wonderful fellowship with all the other couples there.
  • Fingers crossed ~ today was my last dentist appt for a while…!
  • Diet & Exercise ~ both still going along well.
  • Weather – how can you beat mid-70’s in early March.
  • Weekend ~ looking forward to hanging out with the Beavers on Saturday night.
  • American Idol ~ some good, some bad.  Have not decided on a favorite yet.
  • Dancing with the Stars ~ not really into it, but it was fun to see Melissa dance.
  • Stem Cell Research ~ I agree in funding for this research.  When my mom was dying from cancer, a stem cell transplant was the only thing that might have saved her life.  Unfortunately cancer claimed her life before she could get it, but think of all of the lives that can be changed and saved.
  • Just heard on the news that some nutcase in AL randomly shot and killed 10 people.  Really, what is wrong with people?
  • Looking forward to a few days off and @ the cabin over Spring Break next month.

Well, that’s all for now, folks.  My Tylenol PM is kicking in.  Nighty Night.

Snow ~~

One of wonderful benefits of living in the NC are the mild winters.  A couple weeks ago, we enjoyed several 70 degree days, and it was just awesome.  Actually, several of the trees have already started to bud..!  I do love the mild winters, because if it is not gonna snow, then why have such cold temps…!

Last night, we were prepared for a late winter snow storm.  It did come, but not as much was predicted.  But, that’s OK.  Snow is snow.  How can we not love the childs’ love of snow, no matter how much lands ~ especially when they have the day off of school.

I’m thankful to God for blessing us with awesome SNOW …!

Thank You, God, for your wonderful gift of SNOW..!
