Quick post, because I should really be sleeping now.  I’m not sure why we put such crazy deadlines in place — like we must leave by XXX time.  Anyway, the Bateman clan is heading north this week to hang out with my brother and niece Katie.  We’ve got a 10 hour drive to Milford, PA.   [...]

Merry Christmas from the Batemans.   We opted not to send cards this year.  We invested that $$, time and effort into some worthy causes, including the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program, a couple  adopted families, and a few others we decided to help.
However, we wanted to share the good news….That Jesus Christ is born on Christmas [...]

Reflections…..

Hanging at the cabin tonite, probably one of the most peaceful places that I know.  After dinner, we all bundled up (it was 27 @ 7pm), and took the dogs for a walk down to the creek.  It was so cold, but such a beautiful, clear evening…! The stars are amazing here.  I look up [...]

One more week….

….then I will be OFF for 11 days.  WooooHoooo. Lonnie is lucky to have the entire two weeks of Christmas/New Year off, but I’m not a state employee with their little perks.  But, don’t get me wrong, I’m thankful for a great job that I love (most of the time), and I get to work [...]

For those who follow my blog, you know that the prayer warriors have been praying for Adam Tanksley for about a year now.  Our good friend Michelle works with Adam’s Mom, Sharon, and introduced us to his cause.  Adam was 3, when he was diagnosed with a rare form of Pediatric Kidney cancer.  He has [...]

It’s been a busy week.  I’m sad we are not having Rock Group tonite, but glad in a way, because I really need some down time to rest and do nothing.  Since Salvation Army on Wednesday, it’s just been go, go, go…!  I don’t like living in a hectic pace.  It makes me crazy, and [...]

Angel Tree Fun ~~

Rocky River Church was represented by 23 people last night at the Salvation Army Christmas Headquarters in Charlotte.  In total, we shopped for 110 angels.  The director of Angel Tree, Shelly, is just awesome.  She explained the program, gave us a tour of the facility and explained our task.  For each Angel, we were able [...]

Happy Birthday, Kyle ~~ !

My little man is 11 today.  Lonnie and I are very blessed to have such a great son.  We’ve already had an exciting, fun morning.  Kyle is sacrificing his birthday evening to serve at the Salvation Army tonite.  But, we have some major fun planned for him
on Saturday!

(P.S.  Happy Birthday wishes also to Becca.  How nice [...]

Angel Tree Program ~~

I’ve gotten a few emails about what’s involved in volunteering with the Angel Tree Program through the Salvation Army, so here is the information.  This Wednesday, 12/10, volunteers from RRCC will head to the Charlotte Salvation Army warehouse to help “shop” for angels (children) who were not picked from SA Christmas trees that were distributed throughout [...]

Monday, Monday~~

A quiet Monday so far.  Kyle is home sick with a nasty cold.  Lonnie has been sick for over a week now, so I guess it’s just making it’s way around the house.  We have a busy week planned, so hopefully he’ll be feeling better soon.  Random thoughts…….

Wednesday is Kyle’s birthday.  He’ll be 11.  I [...]
